Relocation & Employment Support

Plan a move to Guernsey for an IT, healthcare or skilled-trades opportunity. Save your preferences, understand the questions to ask an employer and prepare for a possible relocation.

Relocation help is not guaranteed. The MBDA jobs portal cannot currently verify which advertised employers pay moving costs, provide accommodation or arrange immigration support. Every vacancy should show Relocation assistance: not confirmed unless an employer explicitly confirms it in writing. A job offer, an Employment Permit and immigration permission are not the same thing.

What relocation support can include

Employment permit guidance

An eligible employer can check the relevant Guernsey Employment Permit route and apply through the official employer system, where appropriate. Candidates must also check immigration status separately.

Temporary accommodation

Ask whether staff housing, temporary lodging, rental deposits or help finding a suitable property are offered. Housing access depends on the applicable Population Management conditions.

Travel and moving expenses

Some employers may pay travel, luggage or moving costs; others may not. Confirm what is paid, reimbursement limits and any repayment clause before accepting.

Family and settling in

Ask about dependants, schooling, healthcare registration, relocation timing and the cost of living. Family-related permissions must be assessed for the individual situation.

My relocation preferences

MBDA candidates can record whether they are already on the island, willing to relocate, seeking employer support or self-funding a move. The information remains a saved preference; it is not automatically sent to employers.

Relocation preparation checklist

1. Confirm the job

Check the employer’s identity and current job advertisement. Ask explicitly whether it includes any relocation funding.

2. Check eligibility

Confirm employment-permit, immigration and housing eligibility with official sources and the employer before spending money.

3. Prepare your documents

Keep CV, qualification evidence, references and identity documents ready; share sensitive documents only through trusted official or employer channels.

4. Plan the move

Compare accommodation costs, travel, deposits, essential living costs and likely salary. Obtain written confirmation of the package.
